Initially, Katrina Kaif was supposed to do an item song for Blue Hindi movie but then, her presence was extended. Katrina Kaif was paired up Zayed Khan in the movie. Cuurently, the top actress of Bollywood, Katrina Kaif was offered a whopping Rs. 1.5crore for the item number. While shooting the movie, her role was further extended. News reports also said that Katrina Kaif shot the item number within ten days.
Initially, the producers did not inform Lara Dutta of Katrina Kaif’s role extension. Akshay Kumar was instrumental to bring in Katrina Kaif into the movie. Real Bollywood.com says:
“Katrina was a last minute addition to the film reportedly on recommendation of good friend Akshay Kumar who is amongst the three male leads of the film along with Sanjay Dutt and Zayed Khan. Apart from a lavish song a few scenes too were shot on her. But as reports have began pouring out that her role has increased since she enjoys a bigger star status, Lara is feeling mighty insecure.
After looking at the rough cut of the first teaser of the movie, Lara was miffed with the producer because Katrina Kaif had more footage in the promo than Lara Dutta. In addition, Kylie Minogue’s song ‘Chiggy Wiggy’ is being played every where and it is already very popular. The producer has another explanation for this action. Since Lara is the female lead in the movie, they do not want to give out too much of her in the promo. More over, there were not too many chick scenes which led to giving more footage to Katrina Kaif.
Lara was paired up with Sanjay Dutt but Sanjay had not much interest in the movie and he did not have a very good relationship with Anthony D’Souza. Hence, the director always turned to Akshay Kumar for advice and it was his idea to give more footage to Katrina Kaif. More over, Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif share a great chemistry onscreen and they have few hit movies together. So, the two are going to get more publicity.
Same thing happened in Billu Barber where Deepika Padukone, Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra had all the publicity despite Lara Dutta being the leading lady.
