Wills fashion week 2010 first day show cancelled for lack of fire safety clearance

Wills Fashion Week 2010, one of the top fashion events of India, was cancelled on the first day as organizers failed to get fire safety clearance. The show had been postponed and it would start next day as per schedule. This year, the Wills Fashion Week 2010 is being held at the NSIC (National Small Industries Corporation) in Okhla Industrial Area in New Delhi. The show was supposed to start at 12 PM local time. As the show was about to start, a group of policemen arrived and asked the organizers to show their fire safety permits. Unfortunately, the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), the organizers of the show, did not have any. Dress rehearsals were stopped and models were told to take a break.

This is very embarrassing for FDCI, the top fashion institution in India. All the people came to attend the show including some of the top business person of the industry. Famous Bollywood actress, Sushmita Sen was scheduled to walk the ramp for Ritu Beri at night and actress Minissha Lamba was scheduled to appear at Rana Gill’s show.

Wills Fashion Week is the biggest fashion event in India. The five day event brings in the top designers of India and showcases their designs. The Wills fashion week 2010, is the 15th edition and this year 130 designers from all over India will showcase their designs in 43 ramp shows. This year the show will introduce 19 new designers. Top designers like JJ Valaya, Tarun Tahiliani, Ritu Kumar, Rocky S, Ritu Beri, Ranna Gill, Nida Mahmood, Atsu, Alpana-Neeraj, Ashima-Leena, Kavita Bhartia, Gaurav Gupta, Vineet Bahl, Rohit Gandhi-Rahul Khanna, Payal Jain, Niki Mahajan, Abraham & Thakore and Nandita Basu will participated in the event. In Wills fashion week 2010, shows will start from 11.20 am and there will be eight shows per day.
