Michael Essien Sidelined for up to 4 Weeks with a Hamstring Injury

Chelsea’s Ghana international Michael Essien has now been sidelined for 3 to 4 weeks with a right hamstring injury. This is a huge blow for the premier league leader as they would actually miss him until February because he will out on international duty with Ghana during African Cup of Nations 2010 in January.

No doubt, the injury news of Essien has come as another blow for Chelsea who were recently defeated by Manchester City in premier league and held by Apole 2-2 in Champions League. His absence would be severe because he has the versatility of playing in various positions in the midfield. He can play as a defensive as well as an attacking midfielder. Even he also has the experience of playing in back four. So, manager Carlo Ancelotti will have to do the job without Essien during the busy phase of the season. Now, let us see if Chelsea can successfully deal with the absence of this Ghanaian star.
