Katrina Turquotte or Katrina Kaif: What is the real identity of the actress?

She is currently the top actress of Bollywood. Television, magazine, billboard, internet, everywhere you will see her. The media follows her every where. Name, fame, luxury, superstar boyfriend Katrina Kaif has it all but who really is Katrina Kaif? Well, many of you would say,she is the daughter of an Indian father and English mother but Ayesha Shroff, wife of famous Indian movie actor, Jackie Shroff, has a different answer. According to Ayesha Shroff, Katrina Kaif’s original name is Katrina Turquotte. The name has been changed to suit Indian temperament. So how does Ayesha Shroff knows all this? Well, Ayesha Shroff was one of the co-producers of Boom in 2003. It was the debut movie of Katrina Kaif. In an interview with The Times of India, this is what Ayesha Shroff said:

Did you change her surname?

She had an English surname, which was not easy to pronounce. She is not Katrina Kaif originally. She is Katrina Turquotte. We wanted to give her a surname which would be accepted by the Indian audience. First we thought of naming her Katrina Kazi, but then we thought Kazi would have a religious overtone. So we thought of Kaif.

According to news reports, Katrina Turquotte used to live in London and she was forced to work at a place, which was not so respectable, in order to support her huge family. Her father is not a Kashmiri Muslim, it was all made up for PR. It was Kaizad Gustad, who found Katrina and gave her a chance in his movie, Boom, where she worked with Madhu Sapre and Padma Lakshmi. Boom was a major failure and critics panned the movie. Amitabh Bachchan also received lots of negative criticism for his role in the movie. Initially, Katrina Kaif (or Turquotte) was written off by the director as she could not speak Hindi properly. Luck changed after Katrina became close with Salman Khan and his family. In 2007, Katrina Kaif gave her first major hit, Namastey London .Even today, Katrina Kaif is known as the girlfriend of Salman Khan. Few months ago, rumor spread out that Katrina and Salman Khan broke up.

Well, I do not know about you but I am not surprised at all with this news. Changing identity for the sake of acting in movies is nothing new. There are many ambitious girls who are ready to do anything to get what they want and Katrina Kaif is one of them. Bollywood is a tough place, many come and go but very few can rule. Now, it is Katrina Kaif, after five six years, we will see another beautiful girl and she might also make up false names and give false family background for the sake of her carrier. The problem is, if you want to make up something false make sure nobody knows about it except you.
