The Bachchans will not attend Holi celebrations this year

Every year, during the Holi festival, Bollywood celebrities attend ceremonies and enjoy playing Holi with each other. This is one day when all the celebrities come together and play Holi. The Bachchans, one of the most influential families of Bollywood cinema, will not be attending Holi this year due to the death of a close relative of family friend, Amar Singh. In the Pune blast on February 14, 2010, one of the relatives of Amar Singh died.

Amar Singh is a very close family friend of the Bachchans for a long time he has been seen with the Bachchans in many occassions and they share a great relationship. Regarding the absence, Amitabh Bachchan said:

“We do not celebrate again this year. Primarily because of the death of a close relative of our family friend Amar Singhji, but also we do not feel comfortable in celebrating when our own have lost lives in the Pune blast recently,”

In 2008, the Bachchans also skipped the Holi celebration due to the death of Teji Bachchan, Amitabh Bachchan’s mother. Then in 2009, the Bachchans skipped the Holi celebration due to the November terrorist attack that took place in Mumbai. They felt that they should not be celebrating while people have suffered great losses. This year also they would not be celebrating Holi. However, the 67-year-old actor greeted his fans for the festival.
