USA football (soccer) team has pulled off a famous victory over European champion Spain today in the first semi final of the ongoing FIFA Confederations Cup 2009. With this 2-0 win, USA is now waiting to meet the winner of the second semi final between Brazil and South Africa in the tournament final on 28 June.



USA took lead in the match when Altidore scored in the 27th minute. Spain tried their best to get an equalizer, but the European champions failed to produce any goal. The first half ended in 1-0 in favor of USA. Spain continued their effort to get a goal, but in stead, they conceded the second goal in the 74th minute thanks to Dempsey. No doubt, the second goal fueled up USA’s confidence and came as a last blow for Spain. The only worry for USA is that Bradley was given marching order in the 87th minute of the match.



Spain came into the match looking to increase their record winning steak at international arena to 16. They got past the previous record of 14-consecutive win held by Brazil, France and Australia with the victory over South Africa in the previous game. Spain will now face the losing side of the second semi final in a third place deciding match on 28 June.
