Bajaj Auto is hoping for higher sales figure in next six months

Despite 17% drop in cumulative sales in the last two months, Bajaj Auto, one of the top two wheeler producers of India, is hopeful about its business. Bajaj Auto’s managing director, Rajiv Bajaj, expects that the current financial year will be one of the most profitable years in the company’s history. So, how Mr. Bajaj expects to turn around the market that has been badly affected by economic recession? Well, the answer is launching new motor bikes.

On June 23, 2009, Bajaj Autos launched its new 220cc Pulsar bike. The popular brand will help the company to cross 45,000 units per month from August 2009. The company is also going to launch a new bike in the non-premium segment next month and another bike by the end of 2009.

The Bajaj Pulsar 220cc motorcycle comes with non-fuel injection technology and priced at Rs.70,000. Bajaj Auto hopes to achieve a sales figure of 1,75,000 to 200,00 units per month in the remaining months of 2009. From January to March sales remained between 20,000 and 25,000 units but then it picked up in April. Thanks to its popular Pulsar brand. Still, the 2,20,000 sales figure from April to May looks far unimpressive against 2,68,000 units in the same period last fiscal year.
