India vs West Indies Live Score and Other Information: Champions Trophy

If you want to get live score of India vs West Indies match then visit the link- India vs West Indies Live Action: ICC Champions Trophy 2009

India is going to face West Indies in a crunch game of Group A on September 30 at Johannesburg. India goes into the game knowing the fact that their semi final progress not only depends on a win over West Indies, rather an Australian defeat to Pakistan in the other game of the day would also be needed. In fact, India would also have to win over West Indies with a margin that would bridge up the run rate difference of 2.08 that current exists between India and Australia. West Indies may have already been out of the tournament with two defeats in a row to Pakistan and Australia, but the second string Caribbean side have showed some inspirational performance and they would definitely like to end their Champions Trophy 2009 mission on winning note. So, India would not find it easy to win over the Caribbean side with a big margin. This is where you can find the indication of an exciting match.

Match: India vs West Indies, Group A, ICC Champions Trophy 2009

Date: 30 September 2009

Venue: The Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg, South Africa

Kick off: 12:30 GMT (Local Time 14:30)

India’s fate would have been decided on Monday, if their game against Australia was not called off due to heavy rain during the game. Both India and Australia shared a point each. With this match being abandoned, Pakistan has ensured their semi final spot from the group with 4 points from 2 games as they won both of their games against West Indies and India. Australia now has 3 points with a match against Pakistan left in hand. If Australia wins over Pakistan, they would go into the last four as Group A leader and Pakistan will take the second place. However, if Pakistan defeats Australia on Wednesday, then India, who so far has 1 point, would have a clear chance to progress to the semi final.

However, India has to maintain a good run rate because if Australia loses to Pakistan and India wins over West Indies, then both India and Australia will have equal 3 points. Then net run rate would naturally come to decide who would accompany Pakistan from the group in semi final. At this moment, Australia holds an advantage over India on net run rate. However, the good thing is that India will be playing against a West Indies who has lost much of its strength as their squad does not include the front line players like Gayle, Sarwan, Chanperpaul and many others. Good news for India is that they would know the result of the Australia match in the midway of their match against West Indies because India will be taking on the Caribbean side in a day/night affair.

I think that India has all the chances to win over West Indies maintaining a good run rate, but what they have to pray for is Australia’s defeat to Pakistan. For example, if Australia loses to Pakistan by 54 runs, then India would have to win over West Indies by 51 runs (if both Australia and India bat first).

PTI News reported:

India approach tomorrow's game against the West Indies with a prayer on the lips that Pakistan would somehow prevail over Australia by a big margin in the day's first game in Centurion.

If it happens, India would need to up their net run-rate dramatically, besides winning the match, to stand a chance of making the last-four stage.

However, one thing is pretty much certain that India must improve on their current bowling performance if they are to confine the West Indies batsmen within a low score. Indian pacers and spinners could not yet get their rhythm back in the tournament. Against Pakistan, India conceded 302 runs and Harbhajan-led India’s spin attack looked pretty much ordinary. Barring Ashish Nehra, no other Indian pacer could show their talent and skill. India brought two chances in their bowling department against Australia, but that was of no avail as the Aussie was looking to score a big total before rain stopped the game.

AFP reported:

Defending champions Australia were on course for a big total before the play was called off due to heavy rain in the day-night match.

They posted 234-4 in 42.3 overs after winning the toss on a good batting track, with Michael Hussey (67), skipper Ricky Ponting (65) and Tim Paine (56) all making the most of a mediocre Indian attack.

I think, India would stick to their changes against West Indies too. I do not think that RP Singh would be brought back against West Indies, while Amit Mishra’s leg spin now looks more effective than Yusuf Pathan’s spin. So, I think, India will feature the same bowling line up against West Indies too.

For West Indies, they put on an inspirational display against Australia in their second game. Their pacers Roach, Tonge, Bernard and Sammy tested Australian top orders, even though a magical innings from Johnson guided Australia towards a competitive total. Then West Indies batsmen specially Fletcher and Dowlon have showed that they have talents to play at this level. They have good all rounders like Sammy and Millers. After losing to Australia, Captain Floyd Reifer said that they may have been out of the tournament, but still they do not want to give up on their wishes to go back to their country with some pride intact.

Sknvibes reported:

The loss means that West Indies is officially out of contention for semifinal qualification in the tournament, but Reifer said that his side is not ready to call it a day just yet.

“As we play as a team, stick together and keep working hard, improving our skills, we will get better. We must show improvement, though. We still have more time to prepare and improve our skills and our mental attitude. Getting to international standards is all about the mental attitude,” the Captain told CMC after the match.

So, Dhoni and his side would make a big mistake if they think that they would find West Indies very easy to break. Rather, I think, West Indies has all the ability to give India a shock, and if things go wrong for India, I can not even rule a West Indies victory as well. India also looks to maintain a good run rate and to do so, they must take some risks and herein lies the danger for team India.

There is no doubt, India is clearly favorite against West Indies. However, West Indies side is expected to be determined to prove that their presence did not mar the competitiveness factor of the tournament. India, on the other hand, would like to win and at the same time maintain a good run rate. So, the pressure would definatley be on India, while West Indies will be free flying as they know that they have nothing to lose in the game, but have everything to win.

India vs New Zealand Preview, Live Score: Compaq Cup 2009

India is going to play against New Zealand on 11 September (Friday) in their first match of the ongoing Compaq Cup 2009 tri-nation tournament in Sri Lanka. For New Zealand, however, this is the second match as they already faced host Sri Lanka in the first match of the tournament where they suffered a 97-run defeat. So, New Zealand knows it very well that they have to win against India in order to keep their hopes of playing in the tournament final alive. India knows that a defeat against New Zealand would not mean they are out of the tournament, but still they will look for a good start in the tournament.

Compaq Cup is somewhat a preparatory tournament for the participating teams ahead of ICC Champions Trophy 2009, starting from 22 September. Naturally, all the teams would like to work out their problems in this tournament so that they can go into the champions trophy full of confidence.

Indian players arrived Sri Lanka after participating in BBCI Corporate League where some of the Indian players showed good form including Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. India did not do very well in Twenty20 world cup and now they would like to bring out some good results for the Indian fans. Indian coach Garry Kirsten has recently said that India wants to become no. 1 in ODI cricket very soon and he is confident that his team has enough depth.

Samaylive reported:

"We know that if we continue with as hard as we do in terms of our training and how we set our sights for games, we have the best chances of reaching there. We continue with that quest to be the best in the world."

"We have tremendous depth in our team. Some of the younger players have proven their worth that they are capable of cementing their places in the team. That is the Indian cricket at the moment. We will continue with that and wherever possible we need to give opportunity to them to play. It is important to give them as much exposure as possible especially leading in to World Cup. We will continue to do that, but obviously most important thing is that we need to win more games," he observed.

New Zealand did not have a very good start in the tournament. Though their pacers had some success, New Zealand batsmen totally failed in the first game. Kiwi top order fared poorly and it was clear that New Zealand batsmen were struggling against Sri Lankan pacers. They should know that Champions Trophy is going to take place in South Africa where pacers traditionally get favorable condition and South African wickets helps the fast bowlers. So, New Zealand has a number of reasons to worry for their batting form. Nathan McCullum was given another chance, but the off spinner failed to capitalize on the opportunity against Sri Lanka.

India is missing hard-hitter opener Virender Sehwag and experienced pace Zaheer Khan due to their respective injuries. No doubt, the absence of the two important players is a setback for India, but it is true that India has a number of quality replacements in the squad. For the opening slot, India has Sachin Tendulkar, Gautam Gambhir and Dinesh Karthik, while in the pace department they have Ishant Sharma, Nehra, RP Singh and young Abhishek Nayar. The spin department is spearheaded by Harbhajan Singh and there is leg spinner Amit Mishra.

India vs West Indies 1st ODI 2009: Preview, Live Score

India and West Indies are going to take on each other in the first of the four-match ODI series at the Sabina Park, Jamaica on 26 June 2009. Following India’s disappointing performance in the recent twenty20 world cup, Dhoni and his men are determined to retain some of their pride through this series, while West Indies is looking to continue the momentum they achieved in the twenty20 world cup in England.

Match: West Indies vs India, First ODI, Four-Match ODI Series

Date: 26 June 2009

Venue: Sabina Park, Jamaica

Kick off: 14:30 GMT (09:30 Local Time)

Indian team is missing some of their key players like Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Zaheer Khan as well as Suresh Raina due to injury. Still, they have some key players like Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh as well as captain and wicketkeeper Dhoni who could be vital for the visitors.

India failed to reach the semi final of twenty20 world cup, having lost all three super eight games. Naturally, they are now gearing up to come back in winning run again in the upcoming series. Moreover, the team includes some players who were absent in the twenty20 world cup. Naturally, they are now afresh enough to give their best and there is less possibility team India would suffer from fatigue.

First of all, experienced pacer Ashish Nehra has been back into the ODI squad after sitting out for four years. It is expected that he will be part of India’s first eleven tomorrow. Ravindra Jadeja and Badrinath will most probably play in the first ODI, but I am not sure if uncapped Abhishek Nayar will be given his debut match for India in the first match of the series. In the absence of Sehwag, I think, Rohit Sharma will continue his job in the opening slot alongside Gambhir, but there is a possibility that wicketkeeper batsman Dinesh Karthik could open for India tomorrow. However, I think India could also play specialist opener Murali Vijay. Harbhajan will be the only specialist spinner alongside a three-men pace attack that includes Ishant Sharma, RP Singh and Nehra.

For West Indies, the task seems to pretty much easier because they know they have been in good form and have done enough to remain inspired ahead of the series. Well, it does not mean that West Indies has any scope of showing complacency at this moment. In fact, West Indies captain Chris Gayle indicated that the home side was not going to take India lightly.

BBC reported:

"Tendulkar and Sehwag are two world-class players," said Gayle.

"But India still have quality players to step up and a lot of experience in one-day cricket. It's never a walkover against India."

Overall, West Indies seems to be a bit ahead of India, given their home advantage. However, Indian team is also looking for a come back through this series and they are determined to perform and compensate for their poor performance in the twenty20 world cup 2009.

India vs West Indies ODI Series 2009 Schedule

India is going to face West Indies in a four-match ODI series starting from 26 June in West Indies. The ODI series will be very important for both sides ahead of ICC Champions Trophy 2009 which will take place in South Africa in September. India might have failed to reach the semi final of twenty20 world cup 2009, but team India’s recent form in ODI has been pretty much impressive as Dhoni’s men won both of their last two ODI series in New Zealand and Sri Lanka before winning the home series against England towards the end of the last year.

Recent form of West Indies has been mixed. Their recent ODI results include a 2-1 loss in New Zealand, followed by a 2-3 defeat at the hands of England at home. No doubt, West Indies cricket fans are now looking for a revival in their ODI form ahead of the Champions Trophy. West Indies cricketers can take inspiration from their in-form captain Chris Gayle who has been in dominant form recently. In fact, West Indies was impressive in the Twenty20 World Cup as they reached the semi final of the tournament.

India fared very poorly in the twenty20 world cup even though they started as favorite as the defending champion. Naturally, Indian cricket fans are now very much disappointed and it is a big chance for Mahendra Singh Dhoni and his team to bring back the fans’ faith on them by winning the ODI series against West Indies.

India is missing a number of star players in the series due to injury reasons. First of all, opener Virender Sehwag is recovering from a shoulder injury, while Tendulkar has been rested in order to ensure the master blaster gets fit before Champions Trophy 2009. Raina has picked up a hairline fracture, and thus, being ruled out of the West Indies tour. Zaheer Khan is also missing the tournament due to injury.

Abhishek Nayar, who was impressive in IPL, has been called for the first time by the national selectors. It is pretty much certain that the all rounder would get his debut in the four match ODI series against West Indies. Tamil Nadu opener Murali Vijay has already played 1 test match, but is yet to get his ODI debut for Indian national team. In the absence of Sehwag, I think, there is every possibility Vijay could get his ODI debut in the series.

West Indies has a very good squad as well in the presence of some in-from players like Gayle, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Dwayne Bravo and some others. Selectors announced the squad for the first two ODI matches and the only uncapped player in the squad is left-handed batsman Darren Bravo who is the younger brother of Dwayne Bravo. It is pretty much certain that India will face some strong challenge from West Indies who will have home advantage in the series. So, I think, cricket fans of both sides are going to experience a competitive series. Here, I am giving the schedule of the ODI series between India and West Indies:
