Champions Trophy 2009 Semifinal Schedule

India is out of Champions Trophy 2009 and this matter has perhaps taken away all the excitement from this event because most crazy fans of this game come from this country. Still, the event must go on and 4 countries have made into the semifinal. Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan and England will be there to try their luck for the trophy. The four teams who could not make it are India, Sri Lanka, West Indies and host South Africa. I feel bad for South Africa because they are really a very good team and they were just unlucky.
You are looking for the schedule and you find it here: Semi-final Match Schedule of ICC Champions Trophy 2009
Kamrul Hasan of Cricket Updates has surely did his best to entertain the fans with live scores. In his blog, today, he gave live score to both the matches.

Time and Venue of India vs Australia: CT 2009

If you want to get live score of India vs Pakistan match then visit the link- India Australia Match Updates: 28 September 2009
Tomorrow, perhaps all the business in India will come to a halt as its cricket team is taking on Australia. This is a do or die match for team India because if they lose then they are automatically out of Champions Trophy 2009 despite the fact that they still have one match left in the series. Yesterday, they lost to Pakistan and it was an one sided affair. The people in Pakistan celebrated a lot because it was a prestigious win. Anyway, these days, people in Australia do not care about cricket that much despite the fact that they are the World Champion in this sports. I am giving now the time of the match between India vs Australia:
Starting Time: 12:30 GMT (Local Time 14:30)
Date: 28 September 2009 (Monday)

The Venue is SuperSport Park, Centurion, South Africa
I have already written about the venue in an earlier entry. So, I guess that you have read it and you know something about it already.
I do not know if it will be a full house tomorrow because it is a working day.
In the first match, Australia defeated West Indies and that is why they are perhaps hopeful of a second win in the tournament tomorrow.

ICC Champions Trophy 2009 is Giving a lot of Excitement

If you want to get live score of India vs Pakistan match then visit the link- India Australia Match Updates: 28 September 2009

Who said that the number of ODI matches should become numbered? Whoever said it did not say it right because today, the viewers at the stadiums in South Africa and TV viewers all around the world watched two exciting matches. In the first match, Australia defeated West Indies. Then, in the second match, Pakistan defeated India.

Both the two matches were competitive. Tomorrow, two matches are going to take place. England will play against South Africa. In another match, New Zealand and Sri Lanka will take part. All the matches are important.

I am happy that Champions Trophy is providing a lot of entertainment this time. Well, India lost the first match and if in the next match, they lose against Australia then they will be out of this tournament and then all fans in India will lose attraction for event. It will bring huge loss for the TV channels and sponsoring companies. Well, we cannot predict who will win and who will lose. However, to stay alive in this competition India must win both the matches.

ODI cricket should not be abolished. There can be some changes to the rules to make it more attractive.

What do you think?

It is the big day and biggest match of the year: India vs Pakistan ODI match in ICC Champions Trophy 2009. In our time, nothing can be bigger than this in cricket. In football, you may think of Argentina vs Brazil, Real Madrid vs Barcelona but in cricket this is it. Anyway, many people are now eagerly waiting in every part of South Asia for this match. So, without any delay, I am giving you the time:

Date: 26 September 2009 (Saturday)

Start Time: 12:30 GMT (Local Time 14:30)

So, I am now giving the time of start of the match according to some South Asian countries’ time

India: 18:00 or 6 PM in evening.

Bangladesh: 19:30 or 7:30 PM in evening

Pakistan: 18:30 or 6:30 PM in evening

Sri Lanka: 18:00 or 6 PM in evening

Now, some words about the venue. The match will take place in SuperSport Park, Centurion, South Africa. 23,000 people can enjoy the match and tomorrow, I don’t think even one seat would be empty. It is because tomorrow is Saturday- a holiday. SuperSport is the name of a TV channel and because they bought shareks of the stadium, it is named after them. By the way, the final match of ICC Champions Trophy 2009 will take place in this stadium too.

Australia in Champions Trophy 2009

For the last few years, Australian cricket team lost that touch of invincibility. Even in Ashes, they looked shaky in the test series. However, they turned around in the ODI series against England and demolished England. Now, it seems that team Australia is completely in form for ODI form of cricket. They are hoping that they would win the title of Champions Trophy 2009.

WA Today wrote:
The tournament starts tonight, while defending champion Australia plays its first match on Saturday against the West Indies.
Also in the group are India and Pakistan.
With most teams already in South Africa, Australia and England will be late arrivals.
''In an ideal world, it would be nice to be there with all the other teams and get a game under your belt,'' Ponting said.
''Every other side has played a practice game, but we've known for a long time this is how it is so we've had one eye on our preparation for the Champions Trophy the last few weeks as well.''

I don’t think that Australia will win Champions Trophy Title. I think that India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and South Africa are the hot favorites.

Can India Defeat New Zealand in the Champions Trophy Practice Mat

Just 3 days left before the start of Champions Trophy 2009. Now, the teams are busy in playing the practice matches. Of course, England is playing against Australia in an ODI series and tomorrow is the last match. Indian players just last week played against New Zealand and won it easily. So, there should be no worry tomorrow. I think that they will win the match easily.

Kamrul Hasan has written an analysis of the match which you can find here. I am unhappy with the matter that my home country Bangladesh will not be there to play. I think that ICC should change it rule.

Pakistan Team in Champions Trophy 2009

Next week, it is mini world cup for cricket fans around the world. We are trying to cover this tournament in this blog and we hope that you will enjoy our coverage. Pakistan has announced their squad long ago and we should have given it by this time. Here is the list of players:
Younus Khan (capt), Imran Nazir, Misbah-ul-Haq, Umar Akmal, Shoaib Malik, Shahid Afridi, Rana Naved-ul-Hasan, Fawad Alam, Mohammad Yousuf, Kamran Akmal (wk), Umar Gul, Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Asif, Rao Iftikhar, Saeed Ajmal.
To me, it looks a very balanced side with some top quality players. However, the Pakistani fans are worried for two things. First of all, for the last two years, Pakistan cricket team has not seen much action. So, they have less experience. This lack of match practice can be a big headache. Another cause of worry is that despite winning the trophy of Twenty20 World Cup, the performance of the team is totally unpredictable. After winning T20 World Cup, Pakistan team went to Sri Lanka and lost totally.
I think that Pakistan team will do well in Champions Trophy 2009. South African pitches are always ideal for pace bowlers and this is the main strength of Pakistan cricket team for long time.

Australian Squad for ICC Champions Trophy 2009

Australian selectors recently announced Australian squad for ICC Champions Trophy 2009 which begins from 22 September. The 8-team elite tournament includes all the front line test playing nations including Australia, England, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, South Africa and West Indies.
Australia is the defending champion of Champions Trophy and naturally, they are the favorite in the tournament. However, their recent performance has become a major cause of concern as they do not look as formidable as they used to even two or three yeas back.
Regular captain Ricky Ponting, who is now underfire after the Ashes defeat, will lead Australia in Champions trophy. Australian batting line up includes the experienced batsmen like Ponting, Michael Clarke, Hussey, Hopes and Haddin besides the talented new batsmen like Ferguson, Voges and White .
Led by Brett Lee, Australia’s pace attack features Nathan Bracken, Peter Siddle, Mitchell Johnson and Hilfenhaus. All rounder Watson is another option for Australian pace attack. The only specialist spinner in the squad is Nathan Hauritz who is yet to make huge impact in the Australian team. He would get support from part time spinner Clarke. Overall, I think, Australia has a very good batting line up, but the spin attack does not look very promising. Their pace attack has enough quality, but lacks consistency.
Ricky Ponting (Captain), Michael Clarke, Callum Ferguson, Brad Haddin, Michael Hussey, James Hopes, Adam Voges, Shane Watson, Cameron White, Ben Hilfenhaus, Nathan Bracken, Peter Siddle, Mitchell Johnson, Brett Lee, Nathan Hauritz.

India vs Pakistan Champions Trophy 2009: Umar Gul Thinks they Must Win

India vs Pakistan ICC Champions Trophy 2009 match will take place in September 26 2009 and thus, there is one month left but the heat of the match has already started. The two neighbors have perhaps the most intense rivalry in sports and this matter has come from political bad relationship. Anyway, Umar Gul of Pakistan cricket team thinks that his team must win this match. He has this kind of desperation feeling because Pakistan has never defeated India in any World Cup match. If you do not have good knowledge of Cricket then you should know that, in this game: there are 3 World Cup events: ICC World Cup (that will again take place on 2011), ICC Champions Trophy (taking place next month) and ICC Twenty20 World Cup (20 over matches).

The interesting thing is that Pakistan has never defeated India in any of these 3 events organized by ICC.

Daily Times reported:

Fast bowler Umar Gul has said that Pakistan are desperate to beat India in the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy. Pakistan are grouped with Australia, West Indies and India, and the two teams face off on September 26 in Centurion. “While every match will be important, the game against India, as always, will be special for both the sides,” Gul said. “No rivalry can match the India-Pakistan rivalry and I think the match will be something billions of people all over the world will be waiting for. For us, the match is also important for the simple fact that we haven’t beaten them in an ICC event and we’re desperate to break that sequence (Pakistan have actually beaten India in the 2004 Champions Trophy),” he said.

This match will take place in South Africa. Here, I like to remind the readers that the India and Pakistan played in the final match of Twenty20 World Cup 2007 in South Africa and in it, India snatched a memorable victory in the last over against Pakistan.
