Peter Hill-Wood Expects Arsene Wenger to Stay at Arsenal for 10 More Years

You know that Arsene Wenger has already become a legend of Arsenal. The veteran manager has recently said that he has no plan to retire in the near future. Rather he wants to continue his job until he enjoys it. Now, Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood has revealed his hope that Arsene Wenger would stay at Arsenal for another decade. Here, it is noteworthy that Wenger has been at the current job since 1996.

The Canadian Press reported:

"He seems happy in his job here, it is very fulfilling for him," Hill-Wood told ESPN on Saturday.

"I can see him doing it for another 10 years, but of course that is up to him. He is showing no signs of slowing down, he's perfectly fit and he knows perfectly well my feelings about him."

Well, no body knows for how long Wenger would stay at Emirates stadium, but there is no doubt that he has been playing a fantastic job for Arsenal. He has been doing something that, I guess, hardly any other manager would have done for the Gunners. Arsenal is currently under huge debt in order to bankroll for the newly built Emirates stadium. Naturally, Arsenal can not have huge money to spend for signing star players. In this kind of situation any other coach would be complained about it or the team would have performed very bad in the competitions.

However, Arsene Wegner has been dealing with the situation excellently, by focusing more on the youth side and developing players. Wenger does not go for big money signing. Rather, he buys the potential players and then brings out the best of them at Arsenal. Thierry Henry is perhaps the best example of Wenger’s approach. Arsenal now has a very talented youth side and within next two or three years, I think, Arsenal would start dominating English premier league as well as Europe.

Arsene Wenger has no Plan for Retirement

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said that he has no plan to retire as he believes that no body knows when he or she is not “good enough” in his job. The French manager turns 60 next month. He has also talked about what the profession needs from him to continue it. Wenger thinks that a manger needs to have physical strength as well as some animal power to strive his side for victory.

Wegner has also said that he wants to continue his job at Arsenal in the years to come and he can not think a day without football. So, it is pretty much clear that Arsenal fans do not need to worry about losing their wise manager in the near future.

Working with a Tight Budget and Limited Number of Players

I saw an article by Maire Ofeire with the title: Arsene Wenger Must Stop Making Same Mistakes If Arsenal Are To Challenge. Frankly, I do not see any problem with Wenger. What most people do not understand is that he has to work within a limited budget. He simply does not have enough money to buy top players like Arshevin or even another player like Thomas Vermaelen. People for nothing criticize him and they forget that the club is repaying a lot of money because of the debt incurred for building the stadium.

I would like to see that Wenger can buy another 5-6 players in the level of Thomas Vermaelen and Arshevin. It would cost him around $100 million. It is a lot of money for Arsenal at this moment because of the financial pressure they are suffering as a result of the Emirates. On the other hand, Manchester United sold Ronaldo with that amount of money. Manchester City could buy some players spending much more than $100 million in the last 8 months. Wenger knows his limitations and that is why, I am behind him 100%. Some players are now injured and he cannot have their replacements in their level in the current team.

What can Arsene Wenger do More?

I can see that after a lot of praise at the start of the season, now many people have started to criticize Arsene Wenegr for two successive losses at the hands of first Manchester United and then Manchester City. Well, it is natural that when a club performs badly then a lot of blame goes to the manager. This is logical and there is nothing wrong in it. However, I like to think that Arsene Wenger should be an exception to this matter. Why? Simply because he has a very young squad. He got the players at a cheaper rate and then trained them. So, it takes time for the players to become matured.

Anyway, I am sick and tired of all the criticism hurled against him in the recent days. That is why, I am going to write several entries about this matter. If you are an Arsenal fan then please let me know your idea.
